East Medford Custom Residence:
The Owners selected the site for its solar exposure (due South) and panoramic views of the Rogue Valley.
The Program of Requirements also included the use of Geothermal Wells with Ground Source Heat Pump System for heating and ventilating, as well as a roof-mounted solar panel array to generate electricity on-site.
Our design solution responded to the Owners’ Program of Requirements, which included:

A Main / Upper Living Level, with Great Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Master Suite, Guest Suite and Home Office. A roof-covered, expansive deck was also provided for entertaining.

A Guest / Lower Living Level, with Living Room, two Guest Bedrooms, Bathroom and Mechanical Space.

Maximizing views.

Providing ample, South-facing, roof area for the photovoltaic solar panel array.
Architectural Design Features:

Low-slope “shed” roof planes with “single ply” elastomeric membrane roofing system, rated for fire resistance in this urban / wildfire zone.

Sloping steel column “bundles” that help to define the Dynamic Entry, as well as providing needed structural support for the Upper Level deck area while providing stimulating visual interest.

Exterior Portland Cement Plaster system over continuous rigid insulation for wall cladding.

Upper deck: Porcelain tiles on pedestal system, which adapts to the slope of the underlying deck structure.

Lower deck: Ipe wood decking.
